It began as what I thought was a simple case of neck sprain - and it ended up being one of the toughest discomforts in my life. A neck sprain evolved into a case of fierce pain - something that made normal life impossible for me. This brief essay is about, what I tried for the past several months to get treated - and how when every known treatment didn't provide relief - an unorthodox treatment came to my rescue. I am writing this as I feel that there might be several people experiencing similar discomfort and long time pain - and hopefully this would be helpful.
Let me begin with summarizing my case history.
In early August, 2008, I went to the Yogabhyasi Mandal
(www.jsyog.org), a local yoga group, and demonstrated Sharir Sanchalana for a new batch of students. It was a normal day at work. But that afternoon I started feeling a slight neck sprain. I was unable to rotate my neck towards right side. I didn't take it seriously and thought that the pain would go away in a little while. I waited for 3-4 days and there was no sign of relief, so decided to go visit an orthopedic doctor. The doctor too said it was a mere neck sprain and prescribed medicines accordingly. Week after week passed, and things didn't improve. Even at this time I thought it was nothing more than a neck sprain. He advised me to get physiotherapy treatment (ultrasound + IFT) instead. After a week he advised me to go for a cervical traction.
Diagnosis: Trapezius Sprain & C Spasm(LT)
In this period he prescribed following medicines and treatments (listed not in correct
order)
-Tab Robiflam 400
-Tab Rantac 150
-Tab Omez FF 20
-Ultrasound-IFT
-Int Carvical Traction (which was very painful for the type of problem I had)
I was not in favour of taking pain killers but doctor said these were not just pain killers but muscle relaxants as well.
When relief was still not in sight, I decided to go for a second opinion from another orthopedic doctor who advised me the following treatment:
Diagnosis: Periscapulitis
-Tab Sirdalud 2mg BD
-Tab Nimek 100mg BD
-Cap. Rlyoril 400 mg BD
-Tab Rablet 20 mg BD
-Tab Combizox 1 BD
I was asked to get a Radiogram of Thoracic Spine (AP & LT), whose results were normal.

Meanwhile, I tried other treatments like homeopathy and acupressure as well. Still no help. I went back to the earlier Doctor who finally advised me to go for MRI of Cervical Spine in
October 2008.
The impressions were: |

-C5-C6 disc shows left poster lateral extrusion compressing the thecal sac and left neural formina. There is slight migration of the disc fragment in left anterior extradural space posterior to upper end plate of
c6.
-Small left paracentral extrusion of c4-c5 disc is also noted indenting on the thecal sac.
My Doctor asked to continue with my physiotherapy and I just waited for any positive results. I continued it for a couple of weeks, but nothing improved. The situation was in fact, worsening. I was unable to sleep for more than 3-4 hours in the night (since the pain started) , it used to get worse when I would lie down. I tried several positions while sleeping, but it wouldn't help. Things were at the worst every morning when I woke up. I had serious trouble driving as well, as I found it difficult to look or turn to my right side because of the pain.
I was unable to continue my Yogaabhyas because of this pain. I went to Yogabhyasi Mandal and learned four asanas called "Makarasana". These Asanas are to performed to keep our vertebral column healthy. I was advised to practice Makarasanas #1, #2, #4
and #6. These Aasanas were my only hope and I though I started feeling a little comfortable, but wasn't much recovery. |

"every moment I am getting better and better" |

One fine Sunday in October 2008, I happened to meet Mr. Ajay Pradhan who was treating patients with a unique
"Niyog" therapy in Nagpur. As I said, I was trying all unorthodox therapies :, I thought I would try this as well. I showed him my case history and MRI scan, Mr. Pradhan started treating me from that moment
itself.
I started going every Sunday in the morning for treatment sittings to Mr. Pradhan. I had to pay very nominal fees (as compared to other orthodox medical treatments) i.e. Rs. 50 per sitting (Approx. $ 1 USD per sitting - if you are reading this outside India). There were no prescriptions or medications. The reason why I continued with this treatment was that - Mr. Pradhan pressed some points in my neck, shoulders, in the back , forearms and finally fingers. After the very first sitting, I came to know these points had something to do with my neck pain because those points were also reflecting pain (while actual complaint was pain in my neck region). After continuing for 4 odd months, it started showing results, I could rotate my neck reasonably well with very little pain. Mr. Pradhan suggested that we get my neck rotation normal first and then we will work on minimizing the pain.
After continuing for 10 months of treatment i.e. 40 sittings worth Rs 2000/- total (USD $ 40 approx.), my problems have
99% recovered. I am still continuing with his
treatment.
Please note:
Revised Fees is Rs. 100/- per sitting

The below is Mr.Pradhan's version of my case, in his own words.
Subodh
came to me in October 2008 with severe
problem of neck ache and tortional
distronia.
The manifestation was typically on
left rare side and had a savior
rediculopathy along with back ache.
Pain radiated from left scapula to
fingers and was leading to savior
deformity. However he had a remote
reference to whom he doesn't
recognize, the treatment started on
very day. For first few weeks the
schedule was weekly on every Sunday.
For a few weeks the effect lasted for
short time. However stimulations went
on from cervical(left) region,
shoulder, scapula, elbow and tips of
little finger and ring finger. Then
slowly the period of normality
extended up to a week and then the
normal structure manifested. He
however gained confidence and started
following exercise schedule. |

Initially he was not keen on putting restrictions but after a few weeks he reluctantly adopted restrictions (like avoiding lifting weights) and now with the grace of God he is 99%
recovered.
Tip:
In this therapy the role of doctor and patient shall always be complimentary to each other as it is an interplay and exchange of energy. The result of treatment depends upon the cordiality between Doctor and patient. In this way the
"Niyog" newly upcoming science as the essence of "Samvahana" technique from "Tantra" |
|
|
|
|
The "Niyog" is a Science of stimulating vital energy channels in the body especially for muscular, skeleton problems and spiral problems.According to Mr.Pradhan, the following problems can be treated through this
Niyog
therapy:
1. Cervical spondylosis
2. Lumber spondylosis
3. Frozen Shoulder
4. Mylopathy
5. Scitica
6. Tennis Elbow
7. Distonia Trigger finger
8. Writer Cramp
9. Walking disorder
10. Migraine
11. Tonsillitis
12. Ostio arthritis, arthritis and early stage of rumited arthritis |
|
If you, or anybody you know has long-term discomfort with any of the above, and if you are feeling disheartened by normal modes of therapies, I would suggest that you consult Mr.Pradhan (Tel: 91- 9422164527) and his
Niyog treatment. I would strongly recommend him as I have first-hand experience of the
Niyog therapy that he practices.
Dr. Pradhan is practicing at Akola, Nagpur and now in
Mumbai too. |
